Dr. David Ott paid a visit to the Tate Band today during our concert band classes to rehearse his original composition, "Elegy."

| Dr. David Ott |
Dr. Ott is the conductor of the Northwest Florida Philharmonic and a resident of Destin, Florida. His orignial piece "Elegy" was written with the cemetery at Fort Barrancas as his inspiration. The piece is dedicated to those that lost their life on September 11, 2001.
The Tate Band will perform "Elegy" at the U.S.S. Missouri at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Coincidentally Dr. Ott's father served on the U.S.S. Missouri during World War II.
Dr. Ott asked the students to "blow the guns off the Missouri with their performance" and left them with this quote to ponder. "Music takes over where words leave off."
Thank you Dr. Ott.
