The Tate High School Jazz Department performed its Winter Concert on Thursday, December 8th for an audience of over 200 enthusiastic jazz parents, friends, and fans.
All three big bands played a variety of swing, shuffle, bebop, and latin charts by composers such as Thelonious Monk, Cole Porter, and Duke Ellington to name but a few.
The conclusion of the concert featured Mr. Leon Anderson, Director of Jazz at Florida State University. He played drum set with the Symphonic Jazz Band while they performed "3-2-1-0" by Oliver Nelson, "Seven Steps to Heaven" by Miles Davis, and the Count Basie Orchestra arrangement of "Sweet Georgia Brown."
Thanks go out to the administration, parents, boosters, and jazz friends for your continued support. If you would like to hear the Symphonic Jazz Band again they will be playing at University Mall on Monday, December 19th at 8:00 PM.
Aloha!
